News Release from Blue Hill School

Joe’l Ruybalid, Superintendent of Schools
Blue Hill Schools has experienced a tragic bus accident which occurred during a regular evening after school route south of the city of Blue Hill. The accident occurred Wednesday at the intersection of R and 1800 roads. The accident claimed the lives of both drivers. Two passengers on the bus were killed as well. One high school senior and one 5th grade student. Five students who were passengers on the bus were transported to area hospitals for evaluation, and one student was transported to Omaha for further care. We were told by the State patrol that none of the injuries are life threatening. The incident is under investigation by the Nebraska State Patrol.
We are running a regular school schedule today. It is believed to be best to have school in session after a tragedy like this and provide help for students. We have counselors here from the Silver Lake, Minden, Superior and Red Cloud school districts. Along with many qualified community volunteers. We greatly appreciate the outpouring of offers of help from all our neighboring school districts.
Activities for today have been cancelled we will make a decision later about Friday's activities. The bus routes will be operating as normal this afternoon.
Funeral Services are pending. Due to the number of calls we are receiving in the office, please refer to the Blue Hill website and Facebook page for updates.
Blue Hill Community Schools greatly appreciates your thoughts and prayers for the families involved, for the school and the community.

Mr. Joe'l Ruybalid - Superintendent
