Four dead in Semi-school bus Tragedy

Updated report.
Extra teachers and counselors are at Blue Hill schools today, Thursday,  after four people were killed when a school bus and a semitrailer truck collided south of town Wednesday evening.
Children who usually ride the school bus to and from school were being dropped off by parents this morning.
Laurie Kohmetscher, who lives in rural Blue Hill, said her seventh-grade daughter, Halee, normally rides the southeast bus that crashed Wednesday. She wasn't on the bus at the time of the crash, however, because she had stayed in town with a friend.
Teresa Hodson, 44, of Blue Hill, said her children -- fifth and first graders -- ride a different bus route. As she dropped them at the school door Thursday, she said: "I'm heartbroken for the parents. This isn't supposed to happen. You're not supposed to lose a child."
At least four children also were injured in the crash.
The names of all the dead were released today.
The truck driver, 21-year-old Travis Witte of Blue Hill, and the Blue Hill Community School District bus driver, 59-year-old Marla Wentworth of Red Cloud, died along with two students, 18-year-old senior Dustin Tesdahl, the son of James and Jackie Kirchner and 10-year-old fifth grade student Caroline Thallman, the daughter of Mark and Cheryl Thallman all of Blue Hill.
Five other students were injured. Three were taken to a Hastings hospital, where a 7-year-old boy was treated and released and a 10-year old boy and an 8-year old girl were admitted and are in stable condition. A 7-year old girl was flown to Children's Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha where she is in serious condition. A 6-year old girl was taken to Broadstone memorial  hospital in Superior by her mother where she was treated and released..
Witte farmed with his father, Norman Witte,  near the scene of the accident.

The impact of the crash knocked down a power pole and electrical wires may have ignited the blaze.
The semi caught on fire after the crash, and the fire very rapidly spread to the bus.
Fire marshalls were among the many officials on scene Wednesday evening.
A man working nearby arrived on scene quickly and helped children on the bus to safety.
