Webster County Fair Underway
The 2009 Webster County Fair is officially underway. The fair kicked off on Friday, July 10 at 9:00 am with the Fairgrounds Clean Up Day. That afternoon also brought the annual Ice Cream Roll. Last weekend was filled with Horse shows as the Working Ranch Horse Competitions were held on Saturday and the 4-H/FFA Horse show on Sunday.
Portions of the fair came to Blue Hill on Monday, July 13 with the 4-H Music Contest and Fashion Show being held that evening at the Blue Hill High School gym. Monday saw a flurry of activity in Bladen also as the Webster County Extension Office relocated to the fairgrounds, pits were dug for Thursday and Fridays barbecues and livestock started arriving.
This morning brought final check ins and weigh ins for sheep, goats and swine, and the rabbits and poultry show. All home environment, miscellaneous ag, foods, horticulture, and misc. home economics exhibits were required to be at the fairgrounds and were judged this morning also.
All beef will be on the fairgrounds by tonight with market beef weigh ins scheduled for 7:00 pm.
Tommorrow activities include the swine show, beef showmanship, dog show and exotic and small animal show. Thursday brings the sheep show, goat show, bucket calf show, round robin showmanship, team beef fitting contest, entertainment by recording artist Kari Moore, carnival rides and games, a beef barbecue and the Rodeo. Friday will include beef showmanship finals, market and breeding beef shows, carnival rides and games, a pork barbecue, the Rodeo, and dance to Sweetwater. The fair wraps up on Saturday with a 5K run, livestock premium auction, rainbow classic, alumni showmanship, demolition derby, carnivaal rides and games, the Rodeo, and dance to Sweetwater. The fair doesn't conclude until Sunday morning when all livestock are loaded out or released and all stalls have been cleaned.
