Lady 12 and Unders, Finish Strong

The lady Bobcats 12 & under softball team seem to hit several little road blocks this season but, all in all, it was a great year considering most of the team just moved up from coach pitch this year. With 7 regular season games and a bye, they ended up with a 2-5 regular season record. June 19th and 20th, the Lady Bobcats participated in 12-under Districts at the Smith Softball Complex in Hastings. With a total of 14 teams participating, the girls ended up 11th in the tournament. First night of ball was played against the Beatrice Boltz. Even though Beatrice being a little farther than they usually played, the girls rallied well for an 8-4 loss against Beatrice. They then came back on Saturday to play Roseland and had another good game with another loss which then put them out of the double elimination tournament. This was the Lady Bobcats first showing at Districts and was a great learning experience. The following weekend they played in the Lawrence tournament. A total of 9 teams showed up to play a 3 day weekend tournament. Thursday night the girls played against Roseland with a loss. Friday night they returned with a win over Edgar. Saturday mornings game against Sutton resulted in another win. The girls then went on to play their last game of the season against Roseland resulting in a loss, a 4th place finish for the tournament, and a 4-9 overall record. Due to age, there will be a couple of girls move up to the next divison next year, but the most of the team will be looking forward to another smashing year. These girls are coached by Sandy Lovett and Chellie Dodson. Great year and best of luck to the girls and coaches next year. See you on the mound.
