Kort Leads HPD on High Speed Chase

The Hastings Police Department pursued two incidents Sunday, July 26, that began at Adams County FairFest. Fabian B. Gomez, 18, of Bladen was arrested for defying an order to leave, obstruction of a police officer and resisting arrest at the Adams County Fairgrounds, 947 S. Baltimore Ave. Officers also were involved in a pursuit with Jeffrey Kort, 22, of Blue Hill. Kort was not apprehended for officer safety reasons. "When a pursuit becomes more dangerous than it would be worth, you just terminate that pursuit", said Sgt. Bill Mann. Mann said those reasons included excessive speed, other traffic on the road and visibility since the chase began at 10:36 p.m. In addition to those factors, Mann said termination of a pursuit is also likely when the driver is identified. The chase started at the fairgrounds and ended just south of Idlewilde Road. No arrests had been made for this incident as of the morning of Wednesday, July 29. As of August 9, 2009, Hasting Police Department records indicated that there was an open and active arrest warrant for Jeffrey D. Kort, 22, for a felony count of Operating a Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest.

Now that he is pulling his crap in another county he may finally be prosecuted. This type of crap has been going on in Webster County for years but since his daddy is a partner of our great county Attorney nothing has been done. Just one week before the Adams county chase I watched as McDole reduced several serious charges to a simple disturbing the piece, and recommended that the court go with a light fine. The Judge did fine Kort the max dollar amount for the disturbing charge but did not jail him. If he would have jailed him then the Adams County officers would not have had to place there lives in danger, nor would those innocent people on the streets have been at risk.
Lets all hope that he is sent away for a long while.

Private citizens who are aware that there is an active and an open arrest warrent Should realize that it is their civic duty to report to the proper officials if they should know the where abouts of this individual. Anyone know his license number?

Lets hope at least if they are looking for him he will go away.

Let's hope for a little more than that and hope that he gets PUT away!!! Let's hope he gets everything he deserves!

This is ridiculous! This blog will never be considered legitimate if it allows comments on the guilt or innocence of any citizen. I'm not saying that any of what is alleged is right, nor do I condone his actions, I'm just saying, innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

"innocent until proven guilty" who are you kidding? Do you have any Idea how ridiculous that is. That is only on TV. In the real world you are guilty and have to pay thousands to prove you are innocent. Get real we all know what type of person we are talking about. Guilty he is!!

Please define legitimate for me. Is the Hastings Tribune legitimate? Is the Hastings Police Department web site legitimate?
We have seen how the courts in Webster County work and not guilty there is not innocent, not by a long shot!
I don't think we have a question of guilt or innocence here I think the question here is rather whether or not he will be prosecuted for the crimes he has committed.

Is it your opinion that this site is not legitimate unless it censors the information that readers post? We have plenty of those media outlets around, any opinion that doesn't match theirs isn't going to be allowed. If this site goes to that it will be just like those others, Do we need another of those?
If this isn't what you want get your information from a "legitimate" source. I want the truth.

I think after this I will not read it again. I guess what has been said is true, if you disagree with an Alber, they jump all over you, deride your opinion and don't listen to reason. How's that for an opinion?

Again, Blue Hill Today will NOT censor any reader comments, except for vulgarity. Blue Hill Today does, however, caution readers to use their best judgement when determinig the worth and validity of reader's comments, especially anonymous posts.

In reading the above anonymous comments, I am asking the question of how an individual finds time to continuously post throught the work day. The majority of citizens are at work trying to make their own way to support their families. However, in response to the many topics of controversy it appears to lead back to concerns regarding the judicial system. I believe the judicial members are better educated in passing verdicts to those who have committed crimes than the above anonymous writer is. Most likely if truth be known, the citizens of Blue Hill would have liked to act as judge when a citizen carried out the sensical act of beating an elderly man in front of his place of business years ago or even recent behavior that involved law enforcement, but again that was left in the hands of the judicial system. So when an individual refers to the pre-requiste of examining character and determining whether or not the individual in question fits the description of or is responsible enough to be granted a certain priveledge, (whether it is the granting of a liquor license or council seat)I think those who are involved in the process need to reflect on their own histories and ask themselves about the fairness in casting stones when they to have done things in the past that they shouldn't be proud of. No casting stones unless you are a PERFECT person and we all know that individual doesn't exist in Blue Hill or anywhere! LET IT GO MAN!!!!!

ANONYMOUS 10:37 IN READING YOUR ABOVE ANONYMOUS COMMENT I AM ASKING THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS.

What is the "working day" bankers hours, 9 to 5, what shift are you refering to, first, second, or third shift? What are working hours?

Is a comment more valid or less valid, because it is made at a certain time of the day or by someone who works at home or at an office or in a field?

Just when do the majority of citizens work? I know a lot of people who don't do a 8 to 5 or 7 to 4.

Are you telling us that all the above anonymous comments were made by the same person? Posting through out the working day? Then you, Anonymous 10:37p.m, must have made them all ? You are after all Anonymous. Is that right? All anonymous comments being made by the same person, there can't be more than one person who thinks differently than you.? Just this other anonymous because you are after all anonymous.

And if the truth be know you are more than capable of reading the minds of most of the citizens in Blue hill after you would never cast stones. Oh no that just applies to the other anonymous not you.

Isn't it interesting how this has degressed from the orginal Post, the news report of criminal behavior by one Jeff Kort as observed by Hastings Police Department law enforcement has somehow become another oppertunity to cast dispersion on a totally different individual.

I agree, LET IT GO MAN you aren't coming across looking all that bright anyhow, that is probably why you choose to remain anonoymous.
