$500 for Pork Scholars
The Nebraska Pork Producers Association is pleased to sponsor two $500 scholarships to recognize outstanding college aged students involved in the pork and agriculture industry! Scholarships will be awarded to students who intend to pursue a career in the pork or related industry.
To be eligible you must be an undergraduate student, enrolled in a swine program or college of agriculture, write a brief letter that explains what role you see yourself playing in the pork industry after graduation, write an essay of 750 words or less that describes how you would work through managing a crisis related to the pork industry (be sure to identify the crisis and offer your solutions)., submit one letter of reference from a current/former professor or industry professional, prepare a cover sheet with your name, complete mailing address, phone number, email address, school name, year in school, social security number or student ID, and permanent mailing address.
Mail the above items in a single envelope to: Nebraska Pork Producers Association, Attn: Kyla Wize, PO Box 830909, Lincoln, NE 68583
All entries must be postmarked by August 10, 2009.
The Nebraska Pork Producers Association will administer the program, read the essays, and select the winners. Essays will be judged on the basis of clarity, persuasiveness, originality, and relevance of topic. Winners will notified via mail. Scholarships will be applied directly to the winners’ school accounts. NPPA reserves the right to publish any or parts of the essays submitted.
