Free Health Occupations Career Class Set for Five Communities (Grand Island, Neb.) - A free class, "Introduction to Allied Health Occupation Programs at Central Community College," will be offered in December in Columbus, Grand Island, Hastings, Kearney and Lexington. The class will provide information about the allied health occupation career programs available at CCC, including enrollment, job skills, and personal and professional career preparation. It will highlight the medical assisting, dental assisting and occupational therapy assisting programs. Individuals may sign up to take the one-day class on the following days: – Dec. 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Room 208 at Central Community College-Columbus. – Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Campus Center at Central Community College-Hastings. – Dec. 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Campus Center at Central Community College-Hastings. – Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. to noon at Central Community College-Kearney. – Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to noon at Central Community College-Kearney. – Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to noon at College Park, Room 303, in Grand Island. – Dec. 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at College Park, Room 303, in Grand Island. – Dec. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon at Central Community College-Lexington. – Dec. 18 from 10 a.m. to noon in Room 208 at Central Community College-Columbus. – Dec. 19 from 10 a.m. to noon in Room 208 at Central Community College-Columbus. CCC to Offer Computer Classes in Hastings (Hastings, Neb.) - The Computer Training Center at Central Community College-Hastings will offer the following classes in December: – "Advanced PowerPoint 2007," from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 1 and Dec. 3. The cost is $89. – "Advanced Publisher 2007," from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 8. The cost is $89. Preregistration is required at least a week in advance. Electrical Fundamentals Training Seminar Planned in Hastings (Hastings, Neb.) - An electrical fundamentals training seminar will meet from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 2-4 in the Dawson Building at Central Community College-Hastings. Through classroom presentations and hands-on training, participants will learn about electrical terminology, units of measurement, Ohm’s law, series and parallel circuits, electrical safety, shock hazards, resistance and voltage measurements, testing of electrical components and schematic drawings. Class size is limited so preregistration is required to reserve a space. The cost is $500. Grant funds covering 50 percent of the training costs are available to manufacturers. CCC-Hastings to Offer Nursing Assistant Course (Hastings, Neb.) - A nursing assistant course will be offered Dec. 7-18 at Central Community College-Hastings. The course is designed to teach basic patient care procedures to employees of hospitals, total health care facilities and nursing homes. The classroom will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. Preregistration is required. The cost is $300, which includes tuition and books.
