Harvard resident, Velma Rose Carnes, 79, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013 at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island, NE. Visitation will be Friday, July 12, 2013 from 8:30 am to 9:30 am;
Rosary following at 9:30 am with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am, all at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Harvard, NE with Father Joseph Walsh officiating.
Burial will be in the Harvard Cemetery, Harvard, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com .
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the donor’s choice or the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island, NE.
Velma Rose Kohmetscher was born June 14, 1934 in Lawrence, NE to Albert and Dora (Schutte) Kohmetscher. She graduated from the Blue Hill High School.
She married James Calvin Carnes on August 4, 1957 in Torrance, CA.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathryn M. Lemke of Dwight, IL and Kim Fullerton of Hastings, NE, four grandchildren, Rosie Anderson, Lisa Fullerton, Brad Lemke and Jasmine Lemke, eight great grandchildren and one sister Norma Lorene Cochran of Lincoln, NE.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, one brother Herbert and five sisters, Elvira, Evelyn, Rita, Agatha and Lola.
