OMAHA, Neb. – U.S. Senator Mike Johanns (R-Neb.) released the following statement on his plans to not seek another Senate term in 2014 and thanking Nebraskans for their friendship over the last three decades of public service:
“After many prayers and much reflection, Stephanie and I have decided that I will not seek another term in the Senate. We are eternally grateful for the trust, support and friendship Nebraskans have offered over the last three decades of public service. The two of us have held a total of eight elected offices and we believe it is time to close this chapter of our lives so we can dedicate more time to each other, our family and our faith.“Serving in so many ways over so many years has been one of the greatest honors of our lives and I am looking forward to continuing that service during the remainder of my Senate term. “
