Winter Storm hits Blue Hill

Hanna and Taylor Janda with snow person
Blue Hill remains in a weather watch area after a night that left about a foot of heavy wet snow covering the area.  Before it began to snow it rained for several hours.  Because the ground is not frozen there was little run off and the pastures and wheat crop surely benefited from the moisture.
County road workers  were out before day breaktoday trying to make the roads passable for county residents.  Events scheduled for today  were canceled and people are staying inside.  There is no snow falling at mid day but weather forcasters are still perdicting winds that will close the roads quickly due to the amount of snow on the ground even if no new snow falls.  As the wind picks up some smaller tree branches are snapping off under the weight of the snow and forcce of the winds.
Industrious individuals are out cleaning walks and streets but there is little traffic.
It has been quite a transition from last weeks record high temperatures.
