Richard Dale Crom Sept 14, 1926 to May 1, 2011

Hastings resident Richard Dale Crom, 84, passed away May 1, 2011 at Heritage of Red Cloud.
Mr. Crom was born September 14, 1926 near Bladen, Nebr., son of Charles and Margaret (Vonderfetch) Crom. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and Married Noreen E. VanBoening on June 1, 1947. Mr. Crom farmed near Bladen, Nebr. all of his life before retiring in Hastings.
He is survived by his four children, Linda Waechter and husband Keith of Bladen, Nebr., Susan Oldfield and husband Richard of Lincoln, Nebr., Mary Schnell and husband Dan of Keller, Texas, and Michael Crom and wife Debra of North Platte, Nebr.; ten grandchildren, Lora Rutt and husband Keri of Upland, Nebr., Lisa Cass and husband Tim of Hastings, Dr. Lindsay Waechter-Mead and husband Clay of Wood River, Nebr., Leslie Means and husband Kyle of Kearney, Nebr., Jennifer Fisher and husband Robb of Lincoln, Mark Dickenson of Lincoln, Jill Hazelton of San Antonio, Texas, Joe Schnell and wife Rebecca of Ft. Worth, Texas, Kyla Crom of Lincoln, and Andrea Lenhoff and husband Craig of Lincoln; fifteen great grandchildren; sister, Sharon Berns and husband David of Bladen, Nebr.; sister-in-law, Lorraine Stroh of Lincoln; brother-in-law, Chuck VanBoening and wife Mary of Bladen, Nebr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Crom was preceded in death by his parents; wife; great grandson, Gabriel Cass; sister, Leona Jones; and two brother-in-laws, Leonard Stroh, and Byford Jones.
Visitation Schedule
There is no viewing honoring his wishes for cremation.
Service
Memorial Services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Grace United Methodist Church in Hastings with Pastor Lee Wigert officiating.
Cemetery
Inurnment will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
