The Open Forum is your chance to say something, report breaking news or ask a question -- on any issue. Any topic is fair game, although Blue Hill Today's comment policies still apply. (see bottom of left hand column.) This will be Open Forum #7. The first six have had 36 comments including topics on; the weather, fundraisers, the BH Care Center, County Attorneys, the Census, the Mass. Senate vote, subpoena's, County Commisioner's pay increase, Bobcat basketball, citizen of the year, Haiti, good samaratins, child safety, tax deductions for pet owners, parking and personal property, academic achievement of local alum, local service man sends Christmas greetings, the health care debate, birth announcements, quotes from elected representatives, church services, the Mayor, and trash disposal. Go ahead and sound off on anything. We are listening. A new Open Forum link will be re-posted every Monday (or there abouts) to keep it towards the top of the recent posts. Of course, your completed news article, news information, story idea, or suggestions to improve this site can still be sent to Blue Hill Today by e-mailing us at bluehilltoday@hotmail.com.

I would like to thank all the people who came to testify in my defense at the recent witch hunt in Nelson on Jan 22, 2010. (see previous article McDole and Schmidt) The checks from the county are starting to roll in. It is great to see that every one of these witnesses is getting $48. Thank you to Gene Busboom, Carla Wilier, Don Goodrich, Kevin Kort, Roger Bunner, Jesse Alber, Mike Hall, Tim Eiseman, Shelli Dodson, Rick Hubl, Mike Hienic (state patrol) Vicki Alber, and Garrett Sharp. Also in my defense were Scott Kort, Jeff Kort, Ryan Marten, and Randy Henning (called by the prosecution). Ryan Randy, and Mike also received a full days pay for their time that day. Each person received at least $48 for their time at the county’s expense. Isn’t that great?? I had the best time I have had in years and the county paid for it, this is perfect. Some people pay big bucks for a comedy show or movie, but why when we have such entertainment right here. You just gotta love the Webster County way of life!!!

Why is it, that I never recognize any of the names in the 'Blue Hill Leader' under the "Webster County and District Court" section as being members of our community? Is it because we are better behaved or because their is NO law enforcement presence in Blue Hill? Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Every society gets the kind of criminal it deserves. What is equally true is that every community gets the kind of law enforcement it insists on.

"Record snowfall has buried Washington - and along with it, buried the chances of passing global warming legislation this yar. " Demoocratic senators say a bill that was once a top priority for the party and for President Barack Obama cannot be dug up again during 2010. " U.S. Sen. Jim Demint (R-S.C.) " on tuesday used the D.C. snowstorm to make a political job," saying "It's going to keep snowing in DC until Al Gore cries uncle." Meanwhile. Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.) said "the blizzards that have shut down Congress have made it more difficult to argue that global warming is an immient danger."
