Sen. Mike Johanns |
WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Mike Johanns (R-Neb.) today issued the following statement recognizing the anniversary of 9/11:
“There will always be forces wishing to destroy the freedoms we hold dear. Their hatred drove them to attack innocent people on September 11, 2001, and it drove them again last year in Benghazi. The families of the 9/11 victims taught us all about strength, and our first responders and military personnel taught us about courage and duty. We owe them our thanks and we owe those affected by the Benghazi attack a full account of what happened that day.
“Our resolve has been tested, but every time we exercise our freedoms to peacefully protest, gather or worship, we show the world the strength of our character and power of freedom. That is the best way to truly honor those who make the ultimate sacrifice.”
