Lloyd Robert Greenhalgh January 4 1918 to September 10, 1013

Lloyd GreenhalghLloyd Robert Greenhalgh, 86, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the Heritage Care Center in Red Cloud, Nebraska.

Lloyd was born January 4, 1918 to Robert E. and Coral Hubbard Greenhalgh of rural Guide Rock. Lloyd and his nine siblings grew up on the family farm helping their mother with the chores after they lost their father in 1923. Lloyd graduated from Eckley High School in 1937, and was employed in the silver mines in Leadville, Colorado after graduation. He was married to Bonnie Reichstein on March 15, 1939 in Leadville. They later moved back to Webster county where they farmed north of Guide Rock.

Lloyd farmed east of Guide Rock on the Hunter farm. Later he moved to town and was employed at Ely Elevator for a few years before he missed farming and moved back to the family farm in 1963. The Greenhalgh farm was acquired by his parents in 1917, and has remained with a family member since that time. Lloyd loved the farm life and continued farming until he retired and bought a home in Blue Hill in 1984.

He was very active in the Blue Hill Methodist Church, holding several volunteer positions during his years in Blue Hill. He was a devout Christian and always had time for family, church and the community. One of his favorite activities after retirement was going back to the farm and watch the crops being planted and harvested. He loved to ride on the combine with his son and grandson. The old saying "You can take the man off the farm, but you can't take the farm out of the man"  was very true for Lloyd as he always wanted to see how the farming was being done.

Lloyd was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Lions Club, Eastern Star, served on the board of the Guide Rock State Bank, was a volunteer fireman, a member of the school board and numerous other volunteer positions. He was also an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan and attended the games until his health prevented him from going.

He loved working in his shop doing woodworking. His children and grandchildren are all recipients of wall shelves, small tables, doll beads and table and chairs which were all made with loved from their father and grandfather.

Due to declining health, he and Bonnie moved to College View in Hastings in March 2010, and later moved to Heritage in Red Cloud in September of 2012.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie on January 21, 2013; their daughter, Lila Crane in 2011, and his parents and all of his siblings.

His survivors are his son, Robert and wife Doreen of Denton, Texas; daughters Jan and husband Ron Moranville, Sandy and husband Roger Ohmstede all of Southlake, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Gerri Rasser of McCook, Nebraska. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Teri (Irv) Moranville Gable, Jim (Christy) Moranville, Lisa (Steve) Greenhalgh Knapp, Lanny (Kristen) Greenhalgh, Mike (Sherri) Ohmstede, Debbie (Manny) Ohmstede Fernandez, Steve (Kim) Ohmstede, Stephanie Crane Schwab, Stacy (Andy) Crane McLane, Stephen (Kara) Crane; 28 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are pending.
