Dorothy Meyer Oct. 31, 1913 to Nov.2, 2012

Dorothy Maxine Schultz was born Oct. 31, 1913 at the family farmstead west of Bladen.  Affectionately known as Dot, she was the firstborn child of Albert Heinrich and Sylvia Blanche Karr Schultz.  After her birth, the family resided in the Cowles area.  When Dot was five, they moved west of Blue Hill where she was joined by a baby brother, Elmer, whom she cherished.
She was a second and third generation member of both the Karr and Schulz families who attended rural school at District #25, Cloverton,  graduating from the 10th grade there in May of 1931.  She continued her education at Blue Hill High School.  The hub of her spiritual education throughout her lifetime was St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Hill.  It was through this institution that she was bapitzed on Nov. 5, 1925, confirmed on April 1, 1928; married to Ervin Louis Meyer on Dec. 19, 1940 and where her final service was held Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 at 1:30pm.  Church pastors guiding these important events in her life were the Reverends E.H. Pett, Carl Goede, J. Peil and Don McMillan respectively.
After their marriage, she and Ervin briefly resided in Pawnee City while he worked on road construction.  Following this, they returned to the Blue Hill area where they lived the remainder of their lives.
Dot and Ervin had no children of their own, but found much love and joy in their many nieces and nephews.  Ervin passed away April 2, 1981.  Dot continued to live in their Blue Hill home at 6-6 Lancaster Street until a series of strokes made it no longer possible.  Following her hospital care, she became a resident at Blue Hill Care Center in April of this year.  Although her health had failed, she rallied to celebrate her 99th birthday two days before her death, and responded to well-wishers who called or came to visit.
Among the happy memories shared by those who knew Dot are her quick wit, unsuspecting spunk, dogged determination, impeccable dress, immaculate housekeeping incredible embroidery skills, astounding memoriy and infinite organiational abilities.  Even at an advanced age, she was a faithful fan of the grand nephews and nieces as they participated in variousactivities and endeavors.
Other family members who preceded Dot in death included her brother Elmer; brothers and sisters-in-law; Margaret and Gilbert McMahon,  Frieda and Lloyd Sock, Lloyd and Ruth Meyer, Paul and Wilma Meyer, Ed and Helen Meyer, Melvin Meyer, Dorothy and Bob Hale, Bob Meyer and Dale Meyer, as well as nieces Sherilyn McMahon Miller and Vickie Meyer Schriner Peterson; and Nephew Dennis Sack.
