Chester "Chet" Alber Nov. 22,1933 to July 5, 2012



Blue Hill resident Chester Fred Alber, 78, died Thursday,July 5, 2012, at Mary Lanning Heathcare in Hastings.Services are 10:30 a.m.Monday at TrinityLutheran Church in Blue Hill with the Rev. Joshua Lowe officiating.  Burial with military rites by A.L. Shirley Post #176 will be at Blue Hill Cemetery. Visitation  is 1-8 p.m. Sunday at Merten-Butler Mortuary in Blue Hill with family present 5-7 p.m. and one hour prior to service Monday at the church.
Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church.

Chester Fred Alber was born Nov. 22, 1933, to Paul and Emma (Benker) Alber of rural Guide Rock, Neb. He was baptized on Dec. 25, 1933, at Salem Lutheran Church, southwest of Rosemont, Neb. On July 18, 1948, he was confirmed into the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church southwest of Rosemont, Nebraska. He was a lifelong resident of Webster County.
Chet  graduated from Eckley High School, located north of Guide Rock in 1953.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958, and  then he returned home to farm.  He also worked in Omaha during the winter months at Vickers Hydraulics.
On Dec. 3, 1960, he was united in marriage to JoAnn E. Roeschke at the Presbyterian Church in Lawton, Iowa.
Chet and Joann  returned to the Guide Rock area where they farmed for three years before moving south of Bladen, Neb., onto Chet's uncle Bill Alber’s place. They lived there for 38 years, raising their three daughters there before retiring in 2002 and moving to Blue Hill.
Chet had served on the Bladen School Board for eight years, he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Hill, Nebraska. He was a faithful church member and had held various church offices over the years. 
Left to treasure his memory are his loving wife, JoAnn of Blue Hill, Neb.; three daughters, Lisa Fricke and husband John of Johnstown, Colo.,Shari Alber of Long Pine, Neb., Jodi Mackin and husband Jim of rural Ayr, Neb.; two sisters, Alvera Beach of Hastings, Neb.,and Ruby Gobel of Waterford,Wis.; one brother, Victor Alber of Blue Hill, Neb.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Edgar Alber; sister, LaVeda Cummins;granddaughter, Bonnie Mackin.
