Golf Cart Damaged in Blue Hill

Webster County authorities are investigating a report of a golf cart being taken from the residence at 202 West gage street, in Blue Hill, driven, wrecked and returned here early Wednesday morning, the Webster Sheriff's Office reported. Chief Deputy Sheriff Randy Henning said the office had received a call Wednesday morning concerning the newly restored 1960 Cushman golf cart belong to Eugene Moore, which reportedly was taken from behind his home. One or more individuals apparently took the golf cart for a ride and ran it into something before returning it, Henning. said. Damage was estimated at $2800. The investigating officer learned that someone at the Moore residence reportedly had noticed three or four individuals standing behind the house around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, but did not speak to them or realize at that time that the golf cart had been damaged, Henning said. This follows other crimes involving vehicles in the county committed in the last several months that remain unsolved. An arrest has been made in Clay County that may be related to the some of the cases in Webster County, but that suspect is only being charged with possession of stolen merchandise. Further investigation is needed to link that individual to the crimes in Webster County. Blue Hill resident should be careful to take keys and secure their property as these criminals seem to have no fear when it comes to taking vehicles.
