Open Forum

The Open Forum is your chance to say something, report breaking news or ask a question -- on any issue. Any topic is fair game, although Blue Hill Today's comment policies still apply. (see bottom of left hand column.) Our first two Open Forums, had 12 comments including; parking and personal property, Academic achievement of local alum, local service man sends Christmas greetings, the health care debate, a birth announcement, quotes from Parker Griffith and Adrian Smith, Christmas eve church services, the Mayor, and trash disposal. Go ahead and sound off on anything. We are listening. A new Open Forum link will be re-posted every Monday (or there abouts) to keep it towards the top of the recent posts. Of course, your completed news article, news information, story idea, or suggestions to improve this site can still be sent to Blue Hill Today by e-mailing us at bluehilltoday@hotmail.com.

Did you see the picture in last weeks Leader of Andy Alber doing his bit to help friends and neighbors after the snow storm? Friends and neighbors who help out in time of need are good to have around, don't you think?

Did you hear about H.R. 3501 introduced by Congressman Thaddeus McCotter (R-MI) entitled "Humanity and Pets Partnered Through the years (HAPPY) Act. Designed to give pet owners a tax break for pet care costs! No really, it is for real, a tax break for those who can afford to own and pamper a pet up to $3500 a year!

Don't miss out on claiming your pet as a tax deduction.

How many times must it be said that children don't belong in the front seat of a vehicle? Yesterday I saw yet another mother with her young (2-3 yrs.) child in the front seat of the vehicle. Yes, the child was in a car seat, but that's not going to do much for the poor thing in a head on collision. Newer vehicles have sensors that turn off the airbag if there isn't enough weight, but when you put the carseat plus the baby that does make enough weight in the seat to turn the airbag on. That's really nice that mommy/daddy or whomever is too lazy to put her child in the rear where they belong.

So people, put your children in the rear, in a carseat if indicated by law and BUCKLE them up!
