Bobcats Avenge (Again) Last Season's Lone Loss

The Blue Hill Bobcat's capitalized on two late game interceptions by Chad Hastings to stave off a Cambridge comeback attempt in a 28 - 20 season opening victory. The Bobcats led by 6 or 8 points for the majority of the game before Hastings hit Thomas Ostdiek on a 70 yard catch and run for the touchdown. The Bobcat's converted on the 2 point attempt to go up 28 - 14 late in the third quarter. Cambridge managed to put together one 4th quarter drive to close the gap to within 8 points. A change from a shot gun formation to the I formation proved to be fruitless for the Bobcats and Cambridge was given a couple of opportunities to even the score, however, Chad Hastings came up with interceptions in both of the Trojans last two drives to seal the game for the Bobcats. Hastings led the Bobcats on the offensive side of ball also with one rushing and two passing touchdowns. THe Bobcats struck first with a 25 yard Hastings touchdown run following a 25 yard Hastings to Ostdiek Pass. Hastings hit Dereck Poe for another touchdown late in the first half. Cambridge handed the Bobcat's their only loss of last season before Blue Hill put together 12 straight victories enrout to the schools first state championship. Included in this run was a 28-6 playoff opening victory over the Cambridge Trojans. The Bobcats introduced a new offense this season which will capitalize more on the teams speed and big play making ability. Blue Hill travels to Cross County next week.
