Hastings resident, Sylvia Alethea Catherine Oye, 91, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Bryan LGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.
Services were Saturday, May 9, 2015; 10:30 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Charles D. Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Blue Hill Cemetery, Blue Hill.
Memorials may be given to the Sylvia Alethea Catherine Oye Memorial Fund.
Sylvia was born November 22, 1923 in Webster County, Nebraska to George & Anna (Benker) Meents.
Sylvia Meents married Harold William Oye on August 18, 1947 at Rosemont, Nebraska. Harold preceded her in death on July 3, 2009. They were the parents of two children.
She worked at Gibson’s and was a homemaker. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church and later joined First Presbyterian Church. She was a past member of the Good Samaritan Village Women’s Auxiliary and Eagles Auxiliary. Sylvia enjoyed her family, quilting, cross stitching, needle point, gardening, flowers, cooking, baking and canning.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold William Oye; sisters, Gladys, Goldie, Loretta; brothers, Woodrow and Ernest.
