Hastings resident, Lois L. Alber, 93, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services were Wednesday, May 20, 2015; 10:30 A.M. at Peace Lutheran Church, Hastings with Rev. Marcus J. Mackay officiating. Burial was at 1:30 P.M. in Blue Hill Cemetery following the luncheon. Memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church.
Lois was born December 29, 1921 in Cambridge, Nebraska to Lee & Cora (Teeters) Sexton. She graduated from Cambridge High School.
Lois married Wilford “Bill” Alber in McCook, Nebraska on June 7, 1941. Wilford preceded Lois in death on November 1, 2006.
Lois was a homemaker and a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Lois’s fondest memories were as a child on the farm near Cambridge, Nebraska. She recalled getting home from school in time to milk the cows, feed the hogs and chickens, and gather the eggs. Life was difficult during these times but she never complained.
Wilford and Lois raised their family on a farm near Blue Hill and attended Calvary Lutheran Church in Rosemont. They lived on this farm for nearly 50 years before retiring and moving to Hastings in 1989.
She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and reading. In later years when she was losing her eyesight, Lois remained contented and without complaint. She will be remembered for her laughter and smile and putting the needs of others before her own.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilford “Bill” Alber; and three sisters, Winifred, Joan and Inez.
