WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Mike Johanns (R-Neb.) today issued the following statement after President Obama held a press conference to try once again to sell the failed Affordable Care Act, commonly referred to as Obamacare, to the American people:
“Americans have already heard the tired sales pitch, which is falling flat because now they’ve also seen the consequences first-hand,” Johanns said. “It’s not that Americans don’t know enough about the law; it’s that they know too much to buy the spin. Another speech can’t and won’t do anything about the increased costs, higher premiums, and lost policies caused by this law.“The benefits that might result from the law are far outweighed by the harm and could have been accomplished without a 2,700 page law or thousands of pages of new government regulations. President Obama and Congressional Democrats say Republicans want to throw the baby out with the bathwater, but what we really want is to help every American receive quality, affordable health care.”
