WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Mike Johanns (R-Neb.) today spoke on the Senate floor about stories pouring into his office from Nebraskans struggling to comply with the President’s health care law, commonly known as Obamacare.
“This law has put good-willed and hardworking Americans in the most frustrating and heartbreaking situations,” Johanns said. “The people of Nebraska, and the citizens of our great country, deserve better. They deserve a law that addresses the rising cost of care. And they deserve a government that fosters economic growth so that families can confidently make a down payment on a house, send their kids to college, grow their business or start a new one.”
Johanns’ remarks included stories from individuals, families, business organizations, and medical professionals in Nebraska—all voicing frustration with the law. They cited problems plaguing the law’s website since its launch, the rising cost of premiums and deductibles because of the law and its impacts on businesses and health care providers.
Johanns also outlined a number of plans he supports to roll back or delay burdensome requirements and efforts to repeal the entire law.
