The Webster County Board of Commissioners held a Special Meeting by phone conference as advertised at 8:30am on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at the Courthouse in Red Cloud. The following Board Members were present for roll call: Dan Shipman (District One) by phone call, Trevor Karr (District Two) by phone call, TJ Vance (District Three) by phone call, Keith Buschow (District Four) and Gary Ratzlaff (District Five) were present at the Courthouse. Others present on the phone call either at Courthouse or on the phone were Clerk Petsch, Treasurer Knehans, Assessor Krueger, Deputy Scheuneman, Deputy Harig, Sheriff Schmitz, Chief Deputy Sunday and Attorney Bockstadter. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss continuing to keep the Courthouse closed and handling business for the offices either by phone, mail-in or by appointment only. The Board discussed all issues of the Coronavirus and felt things would remain the same as is at present time. The Sheriff’s Office will assist in dealing with County Court and District Court issues since the Courthouse still has to be opened for these events only. Deputies will be placed at the door to let only those inside who pertain to the Courts. A drop box will continue to be at the east entrance for people to leave items for the offices. The offices will continue to stick to the 6 foot rule and only 10 or less people in a room at the same time. The County Board will meet again on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 for their regular meeting.
