Nebraskans submitted more than 13,000 cards to Congressman Adrian Smith’s (R-NE) offices for the 2015 Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes program, which gives Americans the opportunity to send their gratitude and holiday greetings to service members, veterans, and their families around the world. Smith’s offices in Scottsbluff and Grand Island served as collection points for Third District residents to drop off cards.
As in years past, Terri Hongsermeier of Grand Island worked tirelessly throughout the year to collect thousands of cards and coordinate their delivery to Smith’s office. Kerri Wetovick and Wood River High School, the Bayard VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and Chadron First Baptist Church also each contributed hundreds of cards to this effort.
“Thank you to everyone in the Third District who joined in this project to show our military men and women how deeply grateful we are for their service,” said Congressman Smith. “We hope these thousands of cards will bring cheer to those who sacrifice holidays with their families to allow us to enjoy ours in freedom.”
