Lawrence toddler drowns in backyard swimming pool

Lawrence toddler drowns in backyard swimming pool
Kasely Lynn Anderson, two year old daughter of Wendy Anderson and Randy McKinney died Sunday morning after she fell into an above ground swimming pool at a Lawrence residence..
Nuckolls County sheriff, Brad Baker said the Lawrence rescue squad was dispatched at 10:21 A.M., Sunday.  The child had been found in the large above-ground pool located in the yard of a Lawrence residence by her mother and grandmother.
A preliminary investigation shows the toddler may have left the house and been in the yard for a time. It appears that she reached the water by climbing a ladder over the wall into the pool. The ladder had been left in place and the girl is believed to have  been sitting on the ladder and playing in the water before she fell in, Baker said.
The Sheriff reported that the girl's mother and grandmother searched for her after noticing the girl wasn't in the house..  The grandmother attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation until the Lawrence ambulance and first responder arrived.
Hastings Fire and Rescue paramedics met the Lawrence emergency medical technicians en route and then took the child to Mary Lanning.
Kasely Lynn Anderson was born Feb. 11, 2013, to Wendy Anderson and Randy McKinney of Superior. The accident happened at a home located near Highway 4 in the northwestern  Nuckolls County community of Lawrence.
