Johanns Supports Amendment Defunding Obamacare

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Mike Johanns (R-Neb.) today voted for an amendment that would block funding for the implementation of the President’s health care law. The amendment, cosponsored by Johanns, was offered to the continuing resolution, which funds the government for the remainder of the fiscal year. The amendment was defeated by a vote of 45-52.
“Since becoming law, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has warned of Obamacare’s exploding costs and that it could cause many workers to lose their health care coverage,” Johanns said. “As we continue to seek ways to create jobs and grow our economy, removing the massive costs, regulations and ambiguity associated with the ill-advised law is common-sense.”
Prior to the vote, Johanns discussed the economic impact of the health care law. Click HERE for a transcript of his remarks and HERE to download broadcast quality video excerpts.
