Germanfest to Be Held in Blue Hill Wednesday, October 3
“Germanfest - Celebrating our German Heritage in the Blue Hill Community” is a day-long event will be held Wed., Oct. 3, 2012 featuring an authentic German lunch at noon, catered by Thramer's of Blue Hill for those that have pre-registered for the event. All others that have not pre-registered are welcome to attend the rest of the event, but will be on their own for lunch.
The day starts with coffee time and German pastries at 9:00 a.m. followed by a presentation on the Affordable Care Act by Dr. Mike Skoch, Chief Medical Officer at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital of Hastings, NE. His presentation will include 1) What is the ACA? 2) What does the ACA mean for Medicare? 3) The truth about hidden taxes in the ACA. and 4) How will the ACA change the face of medical care in South Central Nebraska?
In the afternoon, Dewey Lienemann, UNL Extension Educator for Webster County, will present a program "Genealogical Search for My Ancestors in Ostfriesland, Germany. Dewey is a resident of Blue Hill and has recently toured parts of Germany. The event is sponsored by Senior Citizens Advisory Committee of Blue Hill. Public is invited and welcome.
