Skeletal Remains found in Blue Hill Identified

News release For immediate release Nebraska State Patrol March 5, 2010 (Lincoln, Ne) Skeletal remains found in Blue Hill on Tuesday March 2, 2010 have been identified as missing Blue Hill resident Sydney Troxel. Troxel was 65 when the assisted living center where he was residing reported him missing to the Webster County Sheriff's department on May 9, 2009. Sheriff's department personell conducted a search of the surrounding area before entering Troxel's name in the Nebraska Missing Persons clearinghouse and a national law enforcement data base. Foul play has not been indicated by the investigation. The identification of the deceased was made through forensic pathology and dental examinations.

Skeletal Remains Found Near Blue Hill

(Lincoln, NE)- The Nebraska State Patrol, in conjunction with the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, is investigating the discovery of skeletal remains found near Blue Hill, Nebraska.

At approximately 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 2, 2010, a landowner called the Webster County Sheriff’s Office to report the discovery of what appeared to a decomposing body along a fence line on his property. The remains were found by a group of teenagers playing in the area. The property is located about a quarter of a mile west of West Park Drive on the north edge of the community of Blue Hill, in Webster County.

Investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol Troop C-Grand Island responded to the area and deployed the Mobile Crime Scene Unit.

The remains appeared to have been in the area for some time and were covered by tall grass and melting snow. An autopsy and forensic dental identification is planned. The investigation continues.
