Fischer Statement on Death of Nebraska Marine in Nepal

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) released the following statement regarding the death of Capt. Dustin Lukasiewicz of Wilcox, Nebraska:
“My thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends, and loved ones of Capt. Dustin Lukasiewicz as they cope with this sudden and tragic loss. Capt. Lukasiewicz represented the very best of Nebraska. His service to our nation will be remembered by the heroic mission he served.
“There is no greater honor than giving one’s life to save another. By forging into danger to rescue strangers in a distant land, Capt. Lukasiewicz represents the ideals of our nation, personifying our mission as a force for good in the world.”
Capt. Lukasiewicz, a Marine Corps helicopter pilot, was flying the UH-1Y Huey that disappeared Tuesday evening while on a disaster relief mission following the massive earthquake in Nepal. Senator Fischer’s staff has been in contact with the family of Capt. Lukasiewicz and is following the situation closely.
