2010 Managing Crop Revenue Risk Meeting in Red Cloud March 9

Dr. Steve Johnson, Field Specialist - Farm & Ag. Business Management Specialist with Iowa State University will be presenting an interactive workshop on at the Red Cloud Community Center in Red Cloud on Tuesday, March 9, 2010. The meeting will be from 3:00 pm till 4:15 pm with registration and refreshments starting at 2:30 pm. Individuals who had the chance to hear Dr. Johnson the last couple of years were impressed with his intense energy and knowledge of the grain markets, risk management principals and the Farm Bill. We had many requests to bring him back and he has agreed to come back and share with us again this year. Even if you don’t market grain or participate in the Farm Bill programs, his presentation is entertaining and worth listening to. The official title of his workshop is “Managing Crop Revenue Risk in 2010”. This year’s topics include: 2010 Crop Supply/Demand and Price Outlook; Pre-harvest Marketing Tools and Strategies; SURE and ACRE Programs; and 2010 Crop Insurance Overview. Area FSA office personnel and crop insurance representatives have been invited to attend as well to answer questions that may arise concerning insurance or updates on the Farm Bill and its programs. This workshop is offered at no cost to the attendee and is sponsored by the UNL Extension - Farmers & Ranchers College, Peoples Webster County Bank of Red Cloud and the South Central State Bank of Blue Hill, Campbell, Franklin and Oxford. Walk-ins however are welcome. If you are unable to participate in the face-face session with Steve Johnson on “Managing Crop Revenue Risk”, you can participate in a webinar at your own home or business on Monday March 8th from 9 – 11:00 a.m. UNL Extension’s Brad Lubben, Ag Policy Specialist will also be providing updates on agricultural policy. You will need to have a computer with internet access and a phone to participate.
