Bobcats aiming for TVC championship

Over the past four years, no team has been in the Twin Valley Conference tournament boys championship game more than Blue Hill — making the title game three times since 2006.
The Bobcats are one win away from getting back to it. This time, though, they plan on winning it.“
Our goal every year is to win the championship,” said third-year coach Jon Coffey, whose Bobcats fell to Bruning-Davenport in the TVC title game last year. “We get there, but we just can’t get over the hump. Hopefully this year we can get over the hump finally.”
Since 1990, Blue Hill is 0-5 in TVC title games. This year the Bobcats are the favorites to win their first TVC tournament title since 1984.
To do so, the top-seeded Bobcats will first have to get by fifth-seeded Silver Lake tonight at 8:15 at Doniphan-Trumbull. If the Bobcats can beat Silver Lake, they’ll face the winner of No. 6 seed Shelton and second-seeded Lawrence-Nelson in Saturday’s championship at 7:15 p.m. at D-T.

What a classy group of men you are - you made the community of Blue Hill VERY proud.
Congratulations Coach Coffey. As a Junior in 1984, Jon Coffey was a member of that 1984 team that was our last TVC Champs. Other members of that team included, Loren Schreiner (Sr), Mike Meyer (Sr), Pat Meyer (Sr), Robert Tockey (Sr), Brian Kort (Jr), Dave Koepke (Jr), Dennis Alber (Jr), ect.. They were coached by Jim Duval and finished their season in the semi-finals of the State Tournament that year.
ReplyDeleteI need to correct myself. Jon, Brian, Dave & Dennis were all Seniors also. My memory plays tricks on me sometimes.
ReplyDelete1984 Boys Varsity Basketball team consisted of Seniors: Pete Gianakos, Jon Coffey, Loren Schriner, Mike Meyer, Pat Meyer, Todd Frazier, Bob Davis and Shawn Boutin. Juniors: Dave Koepke, Brian Kort, Mike Meents and Sophomore Jerry Heidelk.
